Military Copters Flown to Put Out Wildfire in South Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Defense Ministry has employed helicopters to contain wildfires in the country’s southern provinces, a commander said.

Director of the Defense Ministry’s Aerial Firefighting Center said the military helicopters have performed several sorties over the past days to assist in curbing wildfires that have broken out in Zagros woodlands in a number of southern and southwestern provinces.

Mohammad Mahdi Noori said a rise in temperature has triggered fires in the provinces of Fars and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad.

Following requests from the Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization and the Crisis Management Organization of Iran, the Defense Ministry has deployed three helicopters to the crisis-hit regions, he added.

Iranian military forces play a leading role in the rescue and relief efforts during natural disasters in the country. The Army and the IRGC units have saved the lives of civilians in many incidents, such as floods and earthquakes.
