Spokesman Offers Condolences After Iranian Journalists Killed in Road Accident

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed his condolences on the deaths of two female journalists in a bus crash in northwest Iran that also injured 21 other journalists.

In a statement on Wednesday, Saeed Khatibzadeh offered his condolences on the deaths of the journalists in the accident, expressing his sympathy with the Iranian media society.

He also wished the injured a speedy recovery.

A bus carrying Iranian journalists from various news agencies and newspapers overturned in the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan on Wednesday.

Mahshad Karimi and Reihaneh Yassini were killed in the accident and 21 others were injured. The two ladies were employed by ISNA and IRNA news agencies.

The journalists were returning from a visit to the projects carried out by the Department of Environment of Iran for the resuscitation of Lake Oroumiyeh.

Officials say a technical failure caused the bus to veer off the road and overturn.
