The 43-year-old referee, who migrated to Australia for family reasons in 2019, arrived in Tehran on Wednesday and will take charge of Tehran derby at the Azadi Stadium on Thursday.
According to Iran Football Federation’s website, Faghani will also officiate at the Iran Professional League in the final weeks.
Persepolis and Sepahan are favorites to win the IPL title and struggling teams Saipa, Zob Ahan and Naft Masjed Soleyman are in danger of relegation. It’s while football stadiums in Iran have not been equipped with VAR system so far.
