Coronavirus in Iran: Daily Deaths Rise to 250

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of people who have died of the coronavirus infection in Iran in the past 24 hours stood at 250, the highest daily rate over the past two months.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 87,624, saying the disease has taken the lives of 250 patients over the past 24 hours.

She said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has exceeded 3,576,100 following the detection of 27,444 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected since Monday, 3,036 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

At least 3,168,800 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,422 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

The spokeswoman also said more than 25.19 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 6.92 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 191 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.1 million.
