In a decree issued on Friday, Raisi appointed Seyed Mohammad Hosseini as the vice president for parliamentary affairs.

Hosseini, 60, has a PhD in Fiqh and principles of Islamic law.

He used to serve as the minister of culture under the administration of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and as a deputy minister of science.

Hosseini was also a member of the Parliament between 1996 and 2000.

Raisi was sworn in as the eighth president of Iran in an inauguration ceremony at the Parliament on August 5.

The Parliament is going to hold votes of confidence for the new president’s proposed ministers this week.
