Over 24,000 New COVID Cases Detected in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of people tested positive for the coronavirus in Iran in 24 hours continued its downward trend on Saturday, standing at around 24,000 cases.

The Health Ministry announced on Saturday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has surpassed 4,640,600 after the detection of 24,179 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 3,666 patients have been admitted to the hospital, it added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 7,626 coronavirus patients are being kept in the intensive care units because of more severe infection.

The ministry further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 101,354, saying the disease has taken the lives of 544 patients over the past 24 hours.

At least 3,902,808 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also said more than 27.75 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 16.47 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world is about to hit 211 million and the death toll exceeds 4.43 million.
