Afghan Kam Air Moves Planes to Iran amid Tensions at Kabul Airport

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A spokeswoman for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) said that the country has received a number of planes from Afghanistan’s Kam Air at the airline’s request.

Following the heightened fighting and tensions at Kabul airport, Kam Air's owners requested that a number of their planes be moved to Iran, Mohammad Hassan Zibakhsh said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran provided access to the aforementioned planes, which carried no passengers, in accordance with its goals of interaction with neighboring countries, he said.

Following the Taliban's takeover of Kabul after the US withdrawal, the airport has become a hotspot of conflict as many international and Afghan nationals flock to the airport to leave the country.
