Iran’s President Unveils Anti-Corruption Road Map

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Wednesday disseminated a road map of principles and measures to combat corruption in the administrative and economic sectors.

In comments at a meeting of the cabinet on Wednesday, Raisi said a specialized task force has prepared instructions on the duties of various organizations to prevent and combat corruption.

He unveiled the ‘National Road Map to Preventing and Combatting Administrative and Economic Corruption’, which has 12 main principles.

The president explained that one of his administration’s top priorities is to tackle and root out corruption by detecting the main grounds causing corruption in different administrative sectors.

He also reminded the government managers of their duty to fight corruption in order to reduce the number of cases being dealt with by the Judiciary.

The national road map includes 12 main clauses relating to various issues such as creating transparency, management of conflict of interests, public supervision, meritocracy procedures, and promoting electronic administrative services.

In remarks after endorsing Raisi as the eighth president of Iran in early August, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei referred to the president’s statements and his frequent insistence on revolutionary values such as justice and fighting corruption, noting that such insistence was being made on the right path.

The Leader also advised the president to continue this path, described the Raisi’s slogan as being a popular slogan, and asked him to not abandon it.

Ayatollah Khamenei also advised Raisi to be with the people, to stand by the people’s side in the true sense of the word, and to always speak with them with sincerity.
