Spokesman Highlights Iran’s Call for Global Equality

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Iran highlighted the emphasis that Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has laid on the need for global equality and an end to racism as he has taken part in the UN General Assembly meeting.

In a post on his Twitter account on Thursday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh gave a report on the meetings that Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian has held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. 

Khatibzadeh said the Iranian foreign minister has held separate meetings with his counterparts from Spain, Ireland, Belarus, Venezuela, Syria, the UK, Namibia, Hungary, Turkey on Wednesday.

The top Iranian diplomat has also held talks with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer and “had the privilege to meet Iraqi President Barham Salih”, the spokesman added.

On the speech that Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian has given on the anniversary of adoption of the Durban Declaration and Program of Action (DDPA), Khatibzadeh said the foreign minister has “called for global equality and end to racism.”

The senior Iranian diplomat has held a host of meetings in a tight schedule during his stay in New York.
