In a meeting with his Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Amirabdollahian said Iran welcomes Singapore’s investment in its oil and petrochemical industries, development of ports, and the tourist industry.

He also voiced Iran’s readiness for cooperation with the Southeast Asian country in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, and organized crimes, as well as in ensuring cyber security.

Voicing Tehran’s readiness for interaction with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Amirabdollahian called for the holding of Iran-Singapore Joint Commission.

For his part, Balakrishnan hailed the stable and respectful relations with Iran, stressing the need for the promotion of his country’s ties with the Islamic Republic.

Elsewhere in the meeting, the two senior diplomats also talked about the latest developments in Afghanistan and Yemen.
