Nearly 5 Million Recover from COVID in Iran


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 4,988,000 coronavirus positive cases have recovered from the infectious disease in Iran, the Health Ministry said.

The figures released by the Iranian Health Ministry on Tuesday indicate that 11,701 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 1,821 of them hospitalized.

More than 4,988,100 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,559,600 who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.

It put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 119,888, saying the disease has taken the lives of 239 patients over the past 24 hours.

Some 6,124 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The Ministry also said that more than 36.9 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 15.82 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 233 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.77 million.
