Coronavirus in Iran: Some 5,700 Patients in ICUs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Of the patients diagnosed with the coronavirus infection in Iran, fewer than 5,800 are in the intensive care units of hospitals.

More than 5,750 victims of COVID-19 in Iran are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.

The death toll from the pandemic in Iran has risen to 121,109, as 229 more Iranians have succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours.

Over the last 24 hours, 12,428 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 1,667 of them hospitalized.

The Health Ministry said more than 5,095,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,624,000 sick people.

The Ministry also said that more than 40.96 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 16.71 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 235 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.81 million.
