Iran’s President Blames US after Kunduz Mosque Attack

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi condemned Friday’s fatal bomb attack on a mosque in Afghanistan's Kunduz province as a crime committed for the purpose of creating division among Muslims by the anti-human Takfiri terrorists that receive support from the US.

In a message released on Saturday, the Iranian president offered his condolences to the Afghan nation and the human community on the deaths of scores of innocent Afghan worshippers in a sacred site.

A suicide bomber attacked a mosque in Afghanistan's northeastern Kunduz province on Friday, killing at least 46 people and wounding more than 140 others. The Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.

In his message, the Iranian president said such a crime has been committed with the purpose of fomenting division among Muslims at the hands of those whose anti-human and anti-religion nature has become clear to everyone.

“It is no secret that the growth and development of that Takfiri terrorist current (Daesh) has taken place with the support and plans of the US, which has facilitated conditions for the spread of activities of Daesh criminals in Afghanistan in recent years and has prevented their eradication,” Raisi added.

Voicing concern about the continuation of terrorist attacks in Afghanistan and a combination of “religious and ethnical” seditions that are “part of the US’ new security project” for Afghanistan, the president reiterated Iran’s readiness to support the Afghan people.

Raisi expressed hope that the vigilance of Afghan groups and the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan would foil the US-sponsored plot and that Afghans would experience calm.
