Heading a high-ranking military delegation, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri visited the Pakistani Navy’s shipyards in the port city of Karachi on Friday and was briefed on the process of building warships, boats and submarines.

In talks with the Pakistani military officials, the two sides agreed to work closely together on the construction and maintenance of ships and submarines.

They also stressed that security in the region can only be ensured by the neighbors, IRNA reported.

In a meeting with the Commander of the Southern Fleet and the Commander of the Pakistani Navy in Karachi, the top Iranian general emphasized the importance of maritime security at the common sea borders by conducting joint exercises.

The two sides also agreed to share experiences in various naval fields, try to remove the obstacles to the fight against drug trafficking and terrorism, and exchange students.
