New COVID Cases Detected in Iran below 10,000

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of people tested positive for the coronavirus in Iran in the past 24 hours stood at below 10,000 cases.

The Health Ministry announced on Sunday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has surpassed 5,860,800 after the detection of 9,174 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 1,237 patients have been admitted to the hospital, it added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,294 coronavirus patients are being kept in the intensive care units because of more severe infection.

The ministry further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 125,223, saying the disease has taken the lives of 171 patients over the past 24 hours.

At least 5,416,600 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also said over 50.84 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine, while over 29.5 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world is about to hit 244 million and the death toll exceeds 4.96 million.
