Over 5.4 Million Recover from COVID in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 5.46 million coronavirus positive cases have so far recovered from the infectious disease in Iran, the Health Ministry said.

Figures released by the Iranian Health Ministry on Thursday indicate that 11,409 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 1,477 of them hospitalized.

More than 5,468,600 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,899,500 who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.

It put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 125,875, saying the disease has taken the lives of 159 patients over the past 24 hours.

Some 4,078 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The Ministry also said that more than 52 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 32.46 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 245 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.99 million.
