Over 5.5 Million Recover from COVID in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 5.52 million coronavirus positive cases have recovered from the infectious disease in Iran, the Health Ministry said.

The figures released by the ministry on Monday indicate that 9,857 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 1,281 of them hospitalized.

More than 5,521,900 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,934,400 who have contracted the disease, the ministry added.

It put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 126,456, saying the disease has taken the lives of 153 patients over the past 24 hours.

Some 3,859 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The ministry also said that more than 52.86 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 35.28 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 247 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.01 million.
