Cinema Vérité Festival to Open in Iran in December

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Arrangements have been made for the 15th edition of the Iran International Documentary Film Festival, known as the Cinema Vérité, which will kick off in the coming weeks.

The cultural event will be held on December 9-16.

Organizers say 2,611 short, mid-length and feature films have taken part in the national competition section of the festival so far.

The submitted films will be reviewed by the audition board of the festival.

The list of the selected films in the national competition section will be announced in three groups, namely short documentaries (up to 40 minutes),  mid-length (40 to 70 minutes) and full-length (over 70 minutes) by the end of November.

Iranian documentarist Mohsen has described the Cinema Vérité festival as a showcase of the country’s documentary film industry.

"In fact, the festival is a place where the culture and art people, documentarians and filmmakers will gather and a good condition will be created for the works to be seen," he said.

Eslamzadeh is the director of the documentary "Alone Among the Taliban".
