Spokesman Shrugs Off Story about Expulsion of Iranian General from Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Iran dismissed a media report that an Iranian commander has been expelled from Syria, saying such false stories do not merit response.

Asked by reporters about a story published by the Zionist and Saudi media that the military representative of Iran has been expelled from Syria, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh said at a press conference on Monday, “Story-making by the Zionist media and sometimes by other certain countries is not anything new.”

He said such false reports against Iran have been published at various levels with very different aspects and intensity.

“This report does not merit a response,” Khatibzadeh added.

He reminded the journalists of the fact that Iran’s military attaché in Syria has received a medal of honor from the Syrian defense minister.

His comments came after Saudi media outlets Al Arabiya and Al Hadath reported on Wednesday that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has expelled a commander of the IRGC Quds Force from the Arab country.
