Coronavirus in Iran: 3,400 Patients in ICUs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Of the patients diagnosed with the coronavirus infection in Iran, around 3,400 are in the intensive care units of hospitals.

A total of 3,409 victims of COVID-19 in Iran are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.

The death toll from the pandemic in Iran has risen to 128,956, as 104 more Iranians have succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, it said.

Over the last 24 hours, 4,340 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 650 of them hospitalized, the ministry noted.

It said more than 5,783,400 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,077,400 sick people.

The ministry also said that more than 56.65 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 44.72 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 257 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.16 million.
