Iran’s Rostami Seizes Silver at 2021 World Para Powerlifting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Rouhollah Rostami took a silver medal in the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships on Friday.

Chinese powerlifter Gu Xiaofei won the gold medal by lifting 230kg in the men’s up to 80kg above Rostami who also lifted 230kg.

Egyptian Mohamed Elelfat won the bronze medal with 217kg.

Only three months ago Rostami comfortably won the Paralympic gold lifting 225kg, 228kg, and 234kg before the unsuccessful 'power lift' attempt to break his world record (241kg). He set the world record at the Bangkok 2021 World Cup in May.
