Nearly 50 Million Iranians Fully Vaccinated against COVID

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Health Ministry said on Sunday that about 50 million citizens have received both doses of the coronavirus vaccine.

New figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that more than 110.57 million doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the country as of Sunday, with over 49.37 million people having been fully vaccinated.

While more than 40 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far, the total number of people tested positive has exceeded 6,154,800 following the detection of 2,289 new cases since Saturday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 357 patients have been admitted to the hospital.

At least 5,969,500 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 130,722, saying the disease has taken the lives of 61 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,104 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care units.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world is about to hit 270 million and the death toll exceeds 5.31 million.
