Coronavirus in Iran: Some 2,800 Patients in ICUs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Of the patients diagnosed with the coronavirus infection in Iran, more than 2,800 are in the intensive care units of hospitals.

The Iranian Health Ministry said on Wednesday that 2,821 victims of COVID-19 in the country are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities.

The death toll from the pandemic in Iran has risen to 131,211, as 44 more Iranians have succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, it said.

Over the last 24 hours, 2,103 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 344 of them hospitalized, it added.

The Health Ministry also said more than 6,016,300 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,177,800 sick people.

It went on to say that over 59.31 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 50.74 million have received the second dosage, and more than 4.59 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 276 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.38 million.
