Tehran Summit of Resistance: IRGC Quds Force Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Quds Force paid tribute to his predecessor, Lt. General Qassem Soleimani, for perfectly linking field operations with diplomacy, saying the martyr’s initiatives put Tehran at the pinnacle of resistance and Islamic solidarity.

IRGC Quds Force Commander Brigadier General Esmaeil Qaani delivered a speech to a ceremony marking the second anniversary of martyrdom of General Soleimani, held at the Institute for Political and International Studies of the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran on Sunday.

He said one of the distinguishing features of General Soleimani’s character was his understanding and coming up with ideas, in a way that all grandees would praise him after hearing his logic.

General Soleimani had established a perfect link between the field and diplomacy, Qaani noted, saying the links created by the popular figure in Tehran made inroads into other countries.

“Tehran is the summit of resistance, the summit of the Islamic Revolution, and the summit of Islamic convergence,” the IRGC Quds Force chief stated.

General Soleimani, the former commander of the IRGC Quds Force, was assassinated along with his Iraqi trenchmate Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Units, in a US drone strike ordered by ex-president Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.

Both commanders were highly popular because of the key role they played in eliminating the Daesh terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.
