Coronavirus in Iran: Some 1,250 Patients in ICUs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Of the patients diagnosed with the coronavirus infection in Iran, more than 1,240 are in the intensive care units of hospitals.

The Iranian Health Ministry said on Thursday that 1,247 victims of COVID-19 in the country are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities.

The death toll from the pandemic in Iran has risen to 132,152, as 20 more Iranians have succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, it said.

Over the last 24 hours, 4,658 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 345 of them hospitalized, it added.

The Health Ministry also said more than 6,073,400 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,236,500 sick people.

It went on to say that over 60.43 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 53.42 million have received the second dosage, and more than 13.83 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 339 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.58 million.
