COVID Vaccines Injected in Iran Surpass 131 Million


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 131 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been injected in Iran so far, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.

New figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that more than 131,044,400 doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the country as of Saturday, with over 60.64 million people having received the first dose of the vaccine.

While more than 44.6 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far, the total number of people tested positive has exceeded 6,322,000 following the detection of 11,731 new cases since Friday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 754 patients have been admitted to the hospital.

At least 6,098,600 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 132,380, saying the disease has taken the lives of 24 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 1,362 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care units.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 370 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.66 million.
