Nearly 2,800 New COVID Cases Hospitalized in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients admitted to the hospital across Iran over the past 24 hours stood at around 2,800, the Health Ministry said on Friday.

The new figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 6,761,800 following the detection of 31,247 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 2,781 patients have been admitted to the hospital.

At least 6,260,200 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 133,437, saying the disease has taken the lives of 143 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,261 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care units, it said.

The ministry added that over 61.42 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 54.74 million have received the second dosage, and more than 20.93 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 407 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.81 million.
