At Least 5 Killed in Heavy Rains in Brazil (+Video)

During the deadly floods and landslides in the Petropolis city, four people went missing, according to the National Civil Defense, the country's related authority, Epoch Times reported.

Search and rescue efforts are underway to find four people, it added.

Residents had been mourning family members, neighbors, and friends who died in the February 15 landslide.

On Monday, sirens blared to warn of the risk of new landslides in Petropolis. Many people left their homes to seek safety, while some preferred to stay despite the risk.

Since the February disaster, 13 locations around Rio, including schools, churches, and gymnasiums, have been sheltering about 650 people who were left homeless and lost their belongings in the mud.

Last month, a total of 233 people died in landslides and flash flooding caused by downpours in the same region.
