During a visit to Damascus, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian held a meeting with Syrian National Security Advisor Ali Mamluk on Wednesday.
In the meeting, the Syrian national security advisor underscored Iran’s key role in stabilizing the region and fighting against the terrorist groups.
Mamluk also lauded the prominent role of late Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani in this regard and paid tribute to the martyr.
For his part, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian highlighted Iran’s efforts to fight against terrorism and the extremist currents in the region.
He also reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s continued support for the government and people of Syria.
The top Iranian diplomat has held separate meetings with his Syrian counterpart and with President of Syria Bashar al-Assad during his stay in Damascus.
