According to the figures released by the Iranian Health Ministry on Monday, the total number of deaths from COVID-19 in the country has reached 140,063, as the disease has taken the lives of 42 patients over the past 24 hours.
Since yesterday, 2,915 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 350 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.
More than 6,858,700 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 7,154,000 ones who have contracted the disease, it said.
Some 1,513 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it added.
The ministry also said that over 63.84 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 56.77 million have received the second dosage, and more than 26.03 million have gotten the booster shots.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 482 million and the death toll has exceeded 6.14 million.
