49 New Coronavirus Deaths Reported in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry said on Thursday that 49 people infected with the coronavirus have died in the country over the past 24 hours.

The new figures released by the ministry indicate that the total number of people who tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 7,159,000 following the detection of 2,987 new cases since yesterday.

It put the total death toll at 140,158 after 49 more people died of the disease.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 1,551 patients have been admitted to the hospital, the ministry said.

It noted that over 6.86 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

More than 63.89 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 56.84 million have received the second dosage, and more than 26.15 million have gotten the booster shots.

Worldwide, the number of those infected with COVID-19 has exceeded 487 million and the death toll is above 6.16 million.
