In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian and his Irish counterpart Simon Coveney talked about a range of bilateral and international issues.
Highlighting Iran’s political initiatives in the course of Vienna talks, Amirabdollahian said Tehran has on numerous occasions shown the required resolve to reach a good, robust and lasting agreement in the talks on the removal of sanctions.
Currently, it is the US that must take action to redress Trump’s illegal moves by adopting a realistic approach and to move toward a political initiative, the top Iranian diplomat added, saying Tehran will keep to the path of diplomacy to reach a deal while safeguarding its red lines.
The Iranian foreign minister then referred to the Ukraine crisis, saying, “I have twice conveyed the messages of the Ukrainian foreign minister to my Russian counterpart. We are opposed to war and the displacement of human beings in Ukraine, Yemen, Palestine, Afghanistan, and other parts of the world and believe that everyone must move toward political solutions to establish lasting peace and security.”
For his part, Coveney described the rising international tensions in the wake of the Ukraine war as worrying, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
He called Iran’s initiatives over the course of the negotiations as praiseworthy and underscored the need to reach a good deal that would fulfill Iran’s demands and those of the other parties.
The Irish foreign minister finally noted that his country will spare no effort to reduce the international tensions, especially regarding the conclusion of a nuclear deal.
