Spokesman: Iran Maintains Close Ties with Neighbors

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The emir of Qatar’s upcoming visit to Tehran and a trip that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will take to a Persian Gulf state in coming weeks demonstrate the Islamic Republic’s close relations with the neighbors, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said.

In comments at a presser on Monday, Saeed Khatibzadeh said Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is going to visit Iran soon in response to the visit by Raisi to Doha in February.

He also noted that the Iranian president is scheduled to visit a Persian Gulf state in the coming weeks, with bilateral, regional and international issues on the agenda.

Khatibzadeh added that such contacts and visits signify the “very close relations” between Iran and its neighbors as well as the Islamic Republic’s policy of good neighborliness.

The Iranian president, who took office in August 2021, says his administration’s foreign policy is focused on strengthening ties with neighbors and allies and developing economic diplomacy.
