Landslide Kills 4, Wounds 2 in Northern Afghanistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Four people lost their lives and two others sustained injuries as a landslide hit a village in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province on Monday, provincial administration official Mawlawi Mohammad Akram Akbari said.

The natural disaster took place in Sholar-e-Payen village of Yawan district on Monday evening, killing the four on the spot and injuring two others, said the official.

Local authorities have been trying to send humanitarian assistance to the affected families, Akbari added, Xinhua reported.

In the meantime, locals said that three families have been affected by the incident and the number of casualties could be higher than reported.
