FM Highlights Iran’s Capacities in Regional, Int’l Transportation

Amirabdollahian held talks with Børge Brende, president of the World Economic Forum, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland.

In the meeting, the top diplomat referred to the significance of economic diplomacy in the foreign policy of Iran and outlined some areas which have priority for Tehran.

He spoke about Iran’s excellent capacities in the fields of regional and international transportation and transit as well as oil and gas industries.

Amirabdollahian also noted that expanding cooperation and trade with peripheral countries is a priority of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s policy of neighborliness.

He further pointed to the necessity of rebuilding the global economy in the post-COVID era. He said the Iranian president’s initiative at the summit of the leaders of gas exporting countries in Qatar dubbed “Gas for Reconstruction of Global Economy in Post-COVID Era” pursued this goal.

Amirabdollahian also announced Iran’s readiness for joint work with the World Economic Forum for the purpose of introducing the possibilities of the initiative.

The president of the World Economic Forum for his part welcomed Iran’s economic diplomacy, especially its move to expand interactions with neighbors.

Brende referred to the willingness of Persian Gulf littoral states at the Davos Forum 2022 to expand economic cooperation with Iran, saying the World Economic Forum is ready to look into the Iranian foreign minister’s proposals.

He also expressed hope that talks between Iran and world powers to revive the JCPOA, will produce the intended results and pave the way for using Iran’s capabilities to revive the regional and global economy more than ever before.
