Over 700,000 Foreigners Visit Iran in 3 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 700,000 foreign tourists have traveled to Iran during the first quarter of the current Iranian year, a deputy minister said.

The Iranian deputy minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism announced that a total of 715,519 foreign tourists have visited Iran during the spring, namely from March 21 to June 21.

Ali Asghar Shalbafian said travelers from Iraq, Turkey, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan and Pakistan have mad up the largest contingent of tourists visiting Iran in the 3-month period.

In June, Iran's Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Ezzatollah Zarghami and Iraq’s Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities Hassan Nazem signed a memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation, unveiling plans to remove barriers to land tourism and the movement of people by private car throughout the year.
