Iran Victorious over Japan at 2022 FIBA Asia Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran basketball team defeated Japan 88-76 in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup on Sunday.
Iran’s Hamed Haddadi and Behnam Yakhchali scored 21 points each and Yuta Watanabe registered 17 points for Japan.
Iran started the campaign with an 80-67 win over Syria and also beat Kazakhstan 96-60 in Group C.
Team Melli will play the winner of Chinese Taipei and Jordan on Wednesday.
Every group winner gains direct access to the quarter final, while runners-up will play third placed teams in playoff games.
The 2022 FIBA Asia Cup is being held in Jakarta, Indonesia from July 12 to 24.
