Strike on Gaza Lays Bare Israel’s Aggressive Nature: Amirabdollahian

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian slammed the Israeli regime’s decision to start a new military attack on the besieged Gaza Strip as an indicator of its aggressive nature, denouncing the Zionists’ provocative move to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In a telephone conversation on Sunday, Amirabdollahian and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani talked about the regional situation and the latest developments in the Gaza Strip in the wake of the Israeli regime’s strikes on the besieged enclave.

The top Iranian diplomat strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s brutal attacks that have killed tens of Palestinian people, including women and children, saying Israel’s move to start the recent military strikes emanates from the regime’s aggressive nature.

He also decried the Zionist regime’s provocative move to call on the settlers to march inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem Al-Quds' Old City.

Amirabdollahian also pointed to the telephone conversation he has held with Secretary General of Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement on Saturday night, saying Ziad al-Nakhala has announced that the Palestinian resistance has devised a comprehensive plan to give a strong and effective response to the Zionist regime’s latest crimes.

For his part, the Qatari foreign minister condemned the Israeli regime’s recent atrocities, stressing the need for the efforts to establish a ceasefire in the occupied territories.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani also decried the Israeli regime’s provocative measures in Al-Aqsa Mosque as a factor behind the escalation of military clashes.

On Friday, at least 15 people, including a senior commander of the Islamic Jihad, were killed in an airstrike by Israel on a center affiliated with the resistance movement in the city of Rafah located in the southern part of the besieged Gaza Strip.

Following the strike, the Islamic Jihad fired more than 100 rockets toward the occupied territories. The movement called the retaliatory barrage only an “initial response” to the Israeli bloodbath.

Israeli warplanes on Saturday struck two residential buildings in Gaza City, displacing the occupants and injuring more than a dozen people as part of the latest episode of the regime's brutality against the blockaded enclave.

Furthermore, an Israeli drone demolished a multi-story building in the city after firing several missiles.

According to the report, at least 13 people, mostly children, were injured on Saturday.
