Iran’s Hosseini Wins Bronze at Weightlifting: ISG 2021


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Elham Hosseini of Iran claimed a bronze medal at weightlifting in the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games.

She won the bronze medal in the Women’s 81kg by lifting 100kg in snatch, 123kg in clean and jerk and 223kg in total.

Dilara Narin of Turkey seized the gold with 99kg (snatch), 130kg (clean and jerk) and 229kg (total).

Kazakhstan’s Aisha Omarova seized the silver with 98kg in snatch, 128kg in clean and jerk and 226kg in total.

The 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games are being held in Konya, Turkey, from August 9 to 18, 2022. It is a multinational, multi-sport event that is played between the athletes from the nations of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

With an exception of the 2010 Games, it has taken place every four years since its debut in 2005 at Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The Islamic Solidarity Games are organized and directed by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, but for the first time in history, the event is organized by the Turkish Olympic Committee.
