Iran, Japan Lock Horns for Title of Asian U-18 Volleyball C’ship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Host Iran, former seven-time champion and Japan, defending two-time champion, set up Monday’s final clash of the Titans in the 14th Asian Men’s U-18 Volleyball Championship at the Federation Hall.

Iran pulled off convincing straight-set (25-15, 25-19, 25-18) win against India in the semifinal clash.

Japan also produced a fantastic comeback 3-1 (37-39, 25-22, 25-21, 25-14) win against South Korea to storm into the final showdown of this topflight championship.

As Iran faces off Japan in the final showdown, India will battle it out with Korea, the team they had already beaten in straight sets in the preliminary Pool B clash, in the third-place playoff to fight for the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, the classification round for 5th-8th places saw Chinese Taipei shut out Thailand 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-20) to next fight for the 5th place against China.
