2022 AVC Cup for Women: Iran Beaten by Vietnam


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s women’s volleyball team lost to Vietnam 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-11) at the 2022 Asian Women's Volleyball Cup, called the 2022 AVC Cup for Women, on Tuesday.

Iran has been drawn in Pool A along with the Philippines, South Korea, Vietnam and China.

Team Melli Banovan, who defeated South Korea 3-0 in its opening match, will play the Philippines on Wednesday.

Pool B consists of Japan, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei and Australia.

Iran’s women’s team, headed by Italian coach Alessandra Campedelli, has recently won a silver medal in the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games.

The 2022 AVC Cup for Women is the seventh edition of the Asian Cup, a biennial international volleyball tournament organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF).

The tournament is being held in Pasig, Philippines, from August 21 to 29.
