Israeli troops reportedly began an arrest campaign with raids and attacks in various areas of the occupied territories overnight and at dawn on Wednesday, according to Palestinian media, citing local sources.
Montaser Samour, the director of the Palestinian Prisoners' Club (PPC) in Jenin, said the regime's forces raided the Jenin camp early on Wednesday and detained three Palestinian teenagers, including two former prisoners, according to the al-Araby al-Jadeed website.
In the northern West Bank city of Nablus, Israeli forces arrested two Palestinians after breaking into several local homes. Two more arrests were made in the city of Bethlehem, while three Palestinians were rounded up in Ramallah, including two ex-prisoners. Another ex-prisoner was also taken into custody in al-Bireh.
Two other Palestinians were also arrested in Jenin, but were released later.
The latest arrests took place as clashes broke out between Israeli forces and Palestinian resistance forces in the flashpoint Jenin refugee camp after Israeli forces stormed several Palestinian houses.
Dozens of Palestinians suffered suffocation due to inhaling tear gas during the conflict.
Israeli soldiers brought approximately 70 army vehicles and a bulldozer with them to the camp, pan-Arab news website Arabi 21 said. Israeli snipers set up on the roofs of local Palestinians' homes as the military, which also employed sound grenades, denied ambulances access.
The Israeli regime’s military has stepped up its deadly raids on the local population in and around the flashpoint West Bank town of Jenin.
Dozens of Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of the year during attacks by Israeli forces in that area. This has turned Jenin into a focal point of Palestinians’ protests in favor of their cause of liberation from Israeli occupation and aggression.
Meanwhile, several Palestinians have suffered suffocation as a result of inhaling tear gas used by Israeli forces in al-Arub camp on the outskirts of the West Bank town of al-Khalil (Hebron).
Dozens of Israeli settlers also attacked Al-Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards in al-Quds.
In recent weeks, Israel has ramped up attacks on Palestinian towns and cities throughout the occupied territories. As a result of these attacks, dozens of Palestinians have lost their lives and many others have been arrested.
