Iran Hails Growing Trend in Cooperation with Uzbekistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi congratulated Uzbekistan on the occasion of the Central Asian country’s Independence Day, hoping for the expansion of relations between Tehran and Tashkent.

In a message to his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Thursday, Raisi congratulated the Uzbek leader and the brotherly and friendly nation of Uzbekistan on the Independence Day.

Hailing the positive trend in the interaction and contacts between Iran and Uzbekistan, Raisi expressed hope that the bilateral relations would grow with the efforts of the two countries’ officials and in light of the common historical and cultural values of the two nations.

The Republic of Uzbekistan, a landlocked country in Central Asia, obtained independence from the former Soviet Union on September 1, 1991.
