Iran’s Mirzazadeh Collects Silver at World Wrestling Championships


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Greco-Roman wrestler Amin Mirzazadeh of Iran claimed a silver medal in the 130kg of the 2022 World Wrestling Championships after losing to Turkey’s Riza Kayaalp.

Kayaalp emerged with a 1-1 victory on criteria in an intense tussle with Mirzazadeh to take the title in the last Greco-Roman final on the program at the World Championships in Belgrade.

Kayaalp's victory helped Turkey capture the team title with 125 points. The Republic of Azerbaijan finished second with 118, while host Serbia, with an amazing four champions, was third with 110.

Iran’s Mohammad Reza Geraei in the 67kg and Mohammad Hadi Saravai in the 97kg also won a silver and a bronze medal, respectively.
