Iran into 2023 AFC U-20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran beat the UAE 2-0 in Group J of the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers on Sunday.
Samad Marfavi’s boys stayed perfect in Group J, held in Kyrgyzstan, and qualified for the final round, slated to be held in Uzbekistan next year.
Iran came into the tie only needing to avoid defeat to book its place in the Finals following earlier wins over the Kyrgyz Republic and Brunei Darussalam.
Only a win would do for the UAE, following its 2-0 defeat to the Kyrgyz Republic on Friday, having kicked off its campaign with a 5-0 win over Brunei Darussalam.
Saied Saharkhizan scored Iran’s first goal in the 71st minute, while Amir Ebrahimzadeh was on target in injury time.
