Jordan Denounces Israeli Settlers' Violations on Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Jordan condemned the Israeli settlers' incursion into the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex on Tuesday while it was under police protection.

In a statement, the spokeswoman for the Jordanian foreign ministry, Sinan Majali, emphasized that both the sanctity of the mosque and international law were violated by the provocative actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Israeli police broke into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem al-Quds to evict Muslim worshipers and provide a safe space for ultra-nationalist Jews celebrating the Jewish New Year, which falls on September 25–27 this calendar year. This was first reported by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Majali said that the ongoing violations on the holy sites and the persistent Israeli raids in the occupied Palestinian territories would lead to further escalation and represent a dangerous trend that must be stopped immediately.

He urged Israel to immediately halt all practices and violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and respect its sanctity, calling on Israel to immediately cease all attempts to change the existing historical and legal status quo.
