Iran’s Men’s Team Routs Iraq at Sitting Volleyball World Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Iraq 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-15) at the 2022 Sitting Volleyball World Championships on Friday.

Hadi Rezaei’s men are scheduled to meet Kazakhstan on Saturday.

Iran has participated in the event as the defending champion. It also won the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

The 16 participating teams are divided into four pools for the preliminary phase of the competition. Team Melli is drawn along Iraq, Kazakhstan and Croatia in Pool B.

Both Iran (up against Kazakhstan, Croatia and Iraq) and Bosnia & Herzegovina (facing USA, Japan and Serbia) are expected to go through to the knockout phase, starting with the Round of 16, without much difficulty.

The men’s and women’s competitions started on Friday in Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital Sarajevo and will run until November 11.
