Iran Offers Condolences to Iraq over Sulaymaniyah Gas Explosion Deaths

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Iran expressed sympathy with Iraq over the explosion of a heating gas tank in the northern city of Sulaymaniyah that has killed at least 15 people.

In a statement on Saturday, Nasser Kanaani offered his condolences to the Iraqi government and people, particularly the residents and officials of Sulaymaniyah Province in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, over the deadly incident.

Expressing sympathy with the families of the victims of the explosion, the Iranian spokesman wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

The death toll from a heating gas tank that exploded in a residential complex in Sulaymaniyah on Thursday night has risen to 15. Three homes were destroyed and at least 16 people were injured.

The three residential buildings are believed to have exploded due to a leak from a liquid petrol tank that was on top of one of the buildings in the neighborhood.
