Taremi Linked with Arsenal: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Arsenal has shown an interest in Mehdi Taremi and he may be a player to look at again in light of Gabriel Jesus suffering a knee injury.

Jesus has picked up a knee injury with Brazil and now faces months on the sidelines.

Taremi was a name linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer but the move never really left the ground and he remained in Portugal. The 30-year-old has scored 62 goals and assisted another 43 in 115 appearances for the Portuguese champions and has been linked with a move away.

This season, the Iranian has scored the same amount of Champions League goals as Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski to help Porto top Group B ahead of Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen, HITC reported.

Interest has increased since his World Cup exit after netting twice against England and the January window could see him make a move.

His contract expires in the summer of 2024 and he is yet to commit his future to the Estadio do Dragao. Taremi brings plenty of experience and would be an ideal short-term solution to bring goals to north London.
