Iran Keeps Boosting Missile, Drone Power: IRGC Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) highlighted the efforts to continually strengthen Iran’s missile and drone power and said it is unacceptable in view of the enemy.

“Today, Iran is constantly boosting its drone and missile might and military power, which the enemy considers to be unacceptable,” Major General Hossein Salami said Thursday while speaking at a ceremony in Qom.

In today’s world, a country should either be powerful and mighty to live with independence and dignity or capitulate, the general said, stressing that there is no middle way.

There is no place for weak nations in the world’s political geography, he stated.

The senior commander further said, “We are ready for hard confrontation with the enemy”, adding that there is also a need for strength in confronting the enemy in the field of thoughts and the battle between ignorance and awareness.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations.

In February 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for efforts to maintain and boost Iran’s defense capabilities, hitting back at the enemies for disputing the country’s missile program.

“Without a moment of hesitation, the country must move to acquire whatever is necessary for defense, even if the whole world is opposed to it,” the Leader said at the time.
